This morning my alarm went off at 5:00 a.m. and it was a reminder that a week ago today I set that alarm to prepare for my surgery.

It’s crazy to think that a week ago I was headed to the hospital to have spinal surgery. Surgery is a trippy thing to me because basically it’s something I elected to do. Oh yes please, cut me open, drill a hole in my spine and cut my disc…..that sound like a hoot! Sign me up! Insanity.

Since so many of you have emailed and sent texts I thought I’d just do a post ….

I hate making decisions sometimes. Don’t you? Especially important ones. I’ve had to make some major ones lately and it’s been kind of insane around our house.

So many of you have reached out to me over the last month or so and I want you to know how much I appreciate it. Every sweet comment and email has meant the world to me!
So here’s the latest. I will be having surgery on my back, Tuesday the 8th at 7:30 a.m. They’ll be doing a lumbar micro discectomy on my spine to alleviate the pain caused by a herniated disc and pinched nerve. I figure if Tiger Woods can ….

Style Journey: Country to Modern – Part II

We pick up where we left off on our Country to Modern journey.  If you missed 翻PN软件, you might want to back up and catch up. Our transformation began with the decision to get rid of everything and we did.
(I know, I know… I’m really late with PART TWO. I explain at the end of the post.)

The kitchen was the next room in the house to see changes.  It went though a lot over time.  Kitchens are expensive and we had to do things in stages.  So yes, like the rest of the house it started out a ….

Style Journey: Country to Modern – Part I

We weren’t always into modern design and this post proves that anyone can change styles and get the home they want.

I’ve been promising this post for a while but sitting down to put it together was quite a task, I have to say.  Most of the pictures I had were not digital so I apologize for their quality.  Scanning doesn’t always get great results.  I had no idea where to start or how to share this without it turning into a never ending post that causes your scroll bar to stop functioning.  I decided to go room by room, so ….

Just a quick post this week about a lovely mention we received over at Good Housekeeping.
Thanks to Kathleen Corlett who found me in this never ending sea of home blogs and thought we’d be a nice fit for a slideshow they were working on –

“7 Bedrooms You and Your Guy Will Love”

It’s always a complete surprise when this happens because lets face it, I’m the WORST at social media and promoting our home blog.  (worst, meaning I don’t do it at all!) It’s just not something I have time for and with so many amazing homes out there ….

tulips-redtip

This week I tip toed and bought some tulips! The market was filled with flowering bulbs, and while wondering through the displays I could have sworn it was spring.

Pinks, purples, yellows, and whites surrounded me, but eventually red was the mood I was in. A simple glass vase that originally held a gorgeous bouquet from my husband many anniversaries ago still looks pretty no matter what goes in it. I do have a thing for clear glass containers.

The weather this week has been crazy with sleet, snow, and freezing rain. Work was cancelled for 2 1/2 days and ….

Put a shelf in it!

Baby, it’s cold outside!  I mean seriously… can’t just about EVERYONE say that.  Even us hillbillies down in Texas are freezing our boots off.  I’m sitting at home today thrilled to have a day off due to freezing rain, sleet and light snow.  So I’m slow-cooking a roast with potatoes and carrots and finding time to catch up on all kinds of things.   Including a recent project!

A little over four years ago I knew this project would happen, I knew how it would look, and I knew I would love it. Now I can finally say IT’S DONE!

I’m talking ….

Roof, There It Is

Disclaimer:  This post is wordy, full of run-on sentences and totally time consuming.  Grab a pillow for your rear end and settle in.  Otherwise I’ll catch you on the next post.  It does go somewhere, though.  Just not in a hurry!

I probably never shared the story of our roof and I guess it’s because I’ve tried to wipe most of the experience from my memory. It was summer and a very pleasant 102 degrees outside.  Our insurance company told us we had 60 days to put on a new roof or they ….

Fresh Friday

I don’t know about you, but I’m always happy to get the holiday decorations back in their boxes. It’s all so pretty when you put them out but when they come down you really appreciate your home just as it was — clean, simple, uncluttered. Okay, that made it sound like I’m the queen of keeping things clean and organized which couldn’t be further from the truth. But it does feel good to get back to “normal” (whatever that is).

Of course that meant moving things around again and freshening up our space. The large glass dome (cloche) I pulled out ….

Whewww, it’s been a busy week for me, as I’ve been working my tail off at the station to cross off my VERY long list of things to do before my holiday vacation.  It’s a mad dash to finish because I’m off for THREE WEEKS!  Yes, three glorious, fun-filled weeks.  Okay, fun-filled for weirdos like me means lots of work around this house… and I CAN’T WAIT!

I realize Christmas madness excitement has kicked in for most people and I’ve really enjoyed all the holiday sparkle around the blogosphere.  It seems to have done the impossible and put me in the ….

Fresh Friday: Pink Roses

posted on
pinkroses-cl1

This Friday is so fresh I can still smell the Roses! Pretty Pink Roses and a mix of other surprises made their way home with me from the market this week.  A mix of greens, pinks, greys, whites, and evergreens make up this weeks arrangement.  All chosen for a dish I have never used for flowers but have been dying to try.

My kitchen counter is the perfect place and height for these projects.  Richie passed by the kitchen and said (I KID YOU NOT)  “you smell good… what’s that perfume”?  Ummmmm, honey… it’s called “pink roses”.  Yes, they all ….

Christmas Chalkboard Art: A New Tradition

posted on
Christmas-chalkboard-tree

Last Christmas I had a great time doodling on the chalkboard pantry doors in my kitchen. Not only was it fun and somewhat therapeutic, but it got me in the Christmas spirit… which is not always so easy.  Turns out it got lots of people in the Christmas spirit, thanks to all the fabulous internet junkies who love Pinterest.  My silly Christmas drawing was pinned and repinned over and over again. WOW!   Thanks for the love!  People are so incredibly kind.

The doors have been blank for a few weeks now.  BORING!  They definitely need some holiday love.

I enjoy having fresh flowers in my home and most of the flowers I buy are from our local supermarkets. I love how they place the flowers right at the store entrance so you have to walk by them and WANT them! Of course I want ALL of them. A bundle almost always makes its way home with me each week.

As much enjoyment as I get out of them they eventually droop, wilt, and say farewell, so I thought I’d start a FRESH FRIDAY post on my blog to feature the pretty flowers that make their way home with me. ….

If you were expecting Christmas crafts or seasonal decorating… sorry to disappoint…

I’M A SCROOGE! A GRINCH! CHARLIE BROWN!
(not really… I ‘m just being dramatic)

Christmas is lovely when it’s someone else doing it. I LOVE IT! Bring on the tinsel, the wreaths, the lights and tree. Show off your holiday baking and hand stitched stockings. I will soak it in and “eat it up”. But all you’re getting from me today is the crap we found! HA HA!

First off, ….
